New 100% Natural Hand & Body Lotion now available in Pomegranate
December 15th, 2011Green Cricket releases New 100% Natural Fragrance Free line
November 28th, 2011

Green Cricket today announced its release of a 100% natural line of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotions in Fragrance Free and Pomegranate.
“We’re very pleased about the new line”, says Susan Mey, Green Cricket’s President. “We are completely focused on making sure we are creating and sustaining healthy environments – at the same time we want to make sure our products are effective and deliver good value to our customers”. To do this we developed 100% natural products in attractive, completely recyclable 500 ml bottles.
“We are constantly reviewing our product formulations to see how we can make them even better. 100% natural is an important milestone for our shampoos, conditioners, body wash and body lotions, but we won’t stop there. As our website reflects, Green Cricket assesses every product we sell against 5 key pillars – it’s a constant process of improvement”
That process of improvement was the driving force behind the launch of the new Fragrance Free family of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion. “The rising incidence of asthma in kids has prompted parents and educators to eliminate airborne irritants”, says Mey. “Our new line of Fragrance Free is safe for kids and perfect for families concerned about creating a safer environment.”
The new line of personal care products is available in Fragrance Free and Pomegranate. Green Cricket will launch 100% natural Peppermint in early 2012

(Toronto, ON) Toronto’s Online Green Lifestyle Store is pleased to announce that the first of its Green Cricket branded products has received Ecologo Certification. The Green Cricket Foaming Hand Wash and Refill Pack passed the stringent third party certification analysis for personal care products and will now carry the Ecologo Certification mark, administered by TerraChoice. Ecologo is North America’s largest, most respected environmental standard and certification mark, which signifies products that meet robust standards of environmental leadership.
“EcoLogo certification is an important step for Green Cricket in practising what we preach” said Susan Mey, President of Green Cricket, “We use third party certification as an important screen in selecting the best products for our site, and as a result it was important to us to pursue this certification for our own brand as well”. Green Cricket’s Foaming Hand Wash has consistently been one of its top rated products, for its effectiveness, coupled with its environmental and health characteristics, which include local production, recyclable packaging, biodegradability, concentrated refills, no artificial fragrances, parabens or sodium lauryl sulphate.
“EcoLogo is pleased to welcome Green Cricket into its family of certified products. Their foaming handwash met our strict certification requirements for personal care products and will now bear our certification logo” said Angela Griffiths, Executive Director from EcoLogo. “We congratulate them on taking this important step to communicate the environmental attributes of their products to consumers in a clear and consistent way.”
Green Cricket is a Toronto based company formed in early 2008 with a mission of bringing quality green products to mainstream consumers in a way that is convenient, meaningful and fun. They carry a host of carefully screened green lifestyle products at greencricket.ca so that consumers can shop with confidence.
Green Cricket released on April 6 it’s new foaming hand wash bundle, which incorporates it’s best selling grapefruit mandarin foaming hand wash with a newly created concentrate refill. “The concentrate refill is really a novel concept in the market because it allows the user to reuse the countertop dispenser 9 times based on our testing”, says Susan Mey, “this makes our foaming hand wash bundle not only a great green product, but also one that surpasses the value of most hand soaps in the market today”

Halton Students spearhead international student accord on Biodiversity
April 27th, 2010
Biodiversity is a term used to encompass all living organisms: from one celled amoeba, to insects, animals and plants. It encompasses the number, variety and variability of living organisms and how these change from one location to another and over time. Biodiversity includes diversity within species (genetic diversity), between species (species diversity) and between ecosystems (ecosystem diversity).
We are a group of youth from the Halton region in Ontario, Canada. We formed a year ago as a organizing committee for the 3rd annual E-POWER conference. We all see the environment as being important and understand that biodiversity is key to the function of our planet. We are very committed to local and international work that promotes, restores and protects biodiversity. We accomplish this through our youth conferences on environmental topics, forest restorations projects, and school outreach.
We have recently taken on the task of joining a group of International Youth to create the Global Youth Accord on Biodiversity. We were part of the Second International Youth Symposium on Biodiversity in July of 2009. This is where we met other youth from around the world also interested in Biodiversity work, and we were chosen to write the accord. This accord will be presented at the COP 10 in front of the world leaders. One of the youth involved, Kirsten Falkenburger was able to take on a larger role as the Youth Accord Administrator, helping lead the work internationally.
Although we do projects through out the year, our main goal is to attend COP 10 in Nagoya, Japan in October 2010.
As youth we are very interested in the international forum. We see the relevance and understand how we are all connected. We believe that we have a better grasp of this since we have been raised in the age of technology and web based communication. We also have a connection to the environment and see how our actions in the past have effected the present state of the earth, which make us fear for our future. We are passionate about this cause and feel like we can make a positive change, which is what fuels our work. We created the t-shirts to help support us in our journey and are thrilled about the success they are having.
